Don’t just raise your hands up; give your heart up to it.

With the prize of Laylatul Qadr,  these final days of Ramadan is a boot camp for the believer, an opportune period to put one’s best foot forward. It is a season of harvest where dua must be made in abundance for those who seek success in both worlds.

Supplication is a noble act of worship. It’s a formidable bastion for a loyal and confident worshipper who humbles himself before his creator. One must forget all the forebodings to feel the breeze of sincerity from the bottom of his heart.

The abundance of dua in your life is a powerful testimony of your faith in Allah. It transforms you into an honest and honourable believer. If you see a servant begging a lot in prayer, know that he is close to Allah more than you (with ikhlas).

Allah loves those who ask for his assistance frequently; not those who pray only when in seething frustrations and hopelessness. Although Allah is all merciful and accepts the dua of his servants, there are different ranks among believers.

Dua raises your status as a Muslim, becoming loved and near to Allah. It is a spiritual link that strengthens your religious resolve. If one lacks the tendency to supplicate a lot it means his level of faith and humility is compromised.

Dua is a means of keeping in touch with Allah. The place of consistent and sincere dua in the pursuit of success is enormous. It is an important part of our faith and belief. We ask everything from Almighty Allah, no matter how big or small.

Allah Almighty says in the magnificent Qur’an: “When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every supplicant when he calls on me.” (Quran 2:186).

Be humble

Imam Ibn Jawzi said:  “When you sit in the darkness of the night between the hands of your Master, then adopt the behaviour of children. For indeed, the child when he seeks something from his father and he is not given, he cries over it.”

So beg, pray and prostrate for your master in the most honourable way at the best moments when supplications are accepted. You raise your status and increase your chances of acceptance as a long as you adopt the status like that of a helpless child.

As a fasting person you have already accumulated a level of humility because the heart of the fasting person is repentant, he has drawn closer to his Lord and obeyed Him. He abandoned his food and drink, fearful of the King, the Bestower.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said; ‘No one will be destroyed with supplication. For this reason  Allah Most  Merciful  exhorts us to call upon Him: “Call  on your Lord with humility and in private, verily, He  loves  not  those  who  transgress the  bounds  of what  is right” (Qur’an 7:55).

Any believer who supplicates with humility and earnestness finds the ground prepared by Allah for his advancement. It is all set in order and given a safe passage from all kinds of ensuing devastations.

 Be consistent

The messenger of Allah said: “A supplication should be made in full confidence and one should persistently express his desire (before Allah) in his supplication, for no bounty is too great for Allah to bestow (upon his slaves).” (Muslim)

Dua is a master key to all your closed doors in this life. Consolidate all your efforts to have an endless daily regimen of dua. Never allow a day to pass without you pleading with Allah and asking him for His boundless mercy.

Never get tired of dua, do it at every opportune moment until it becomes part of your life for Allah accepts the most consistent and sincere supplications. With a brimming hope for acceptance, it will only surprise you when you start receiving a stream of endless goodies that appear normal to you-yet a lot happens in the background.

Imam Ibn Taymiyah said:  “The sincere hearts and the pious supplications are soldiers which can never be defeated”
