A bowl of bone broth steams aside a plate of well-cooked goat ribs while another holds sliced lemons and peppers completing a table of anti-aging diet. This is commonly called aleso – boiled goat meat known for its long history of alluring health benefits.
But then, Wajir’s aleso is more delicious, fresh from the epicenter of one of Africa’s livestock- rich hinterlands. Born and bred through organic vegetation the Somali breed goat is the king of red meat.
And when it’s at Wells Park Garden Restaurant, where a parade of chefs fine-tune a mix of an a la carte and ready to eat menu composed of both local and international cuisine, the aroma of aleso allures.
I really enjoyed their bone broth. I love ribs with soft cartilage. You will never guess its power to sooth. I will certainly comeback for more of this.
Generous garden
And this makes Wells Park, one of the few places to find the best aleso in town. A clear traditional bone soup without any food colors is not always available in most restaurants. Only few can maintain the original taste of soup.
The restaurant is quite and cool. With its generous garden full of trees and pockets of grass, Wells Park is the place to find solace amid the soaring sun of Wajir.
Not far from the center of town and a few meters from the famous Qorahey Market, Wells Park redefines Wajir’ modern image as a county that is making significant strides in the hitherto nascent hospitality sector.
With a rich menu of Somali and swahili dishes, it’s an ideal place for family lunches and dinners. Yet with an essential private ambience especially within the garden, it is also a place for tea and coffee meetings during evenings when sporadic slow-blowing wind from Qorahey sends a cooling breeze.
And there is good news for pizza lovers, Wells Park makes delicious pizza. They have a variety of delectable and selectable treats. It is about your choice of toppings and extras. It is gooey.
