Fuel stations across Wajir town have resumed operations following a high-level meeting convened by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi to address security concerns raised by fuel dealers.
The meeting, held on Thursday, brought together representatives of fuel dealers and the county security team, led by the County Commissioner. It followed a strike and the closure of fuel stations due to a series of burglaries that had disrupted business operations.
During the discussions, fuel dealers voiced their frustration over escalating insecurity, particularly a recent wave of robberies targeting their businesses. In response, Governor Abdullahi assured them of enhanced security measures, especially at night, to deter criminal activities. Additionally, it was agreed that those arrested in connection with the recent robberies would face due legal action.
With these commitments in place, fuel dealers agreed to reopen their stations immediately, restoring a vital service for Wajir residents.
Governor Abdullahi reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving security and creating a business-friendly environment.
“We remain committed to enhancing security and fostering a conducive business environment for all,” he stated.
This intervention marks a crucial step in restoring normalcy in Wajir, where business owners have been grappling with security challenges in recent months.
