The Department of Environment and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Wajir County Climate Change Fund Planning Committee recently conducted a comprehensive review and validation of 30 ward proposals and priorities submitted by the Climate Change Ward Planning Committee.

The committee examined the submitted proposals to compile a list of approved projects based on a need-based allocation of funds, aligning with the unique challenges posed by climate change in each ward.

The ongoing validation aims to guarantee that projects are well-defined, feasible, viable, and aligned with climate change impacts and community needs.

“This will assist the department in making informed decisions, mitigating risks, and ensuring overall project success,” said Rahow Hussein, CCO of Environment and Climate Change.

The meeting was chaired by County Executive Committee Member for Land Management, Urban Development, Environment, and Climate Change, Saadia Ahmed.
