Uhuru arrives in Mandera on his maiden trip to Northeastern

Mandera-President Uhuru Kenyatta will make a three-day visit to North Eastern region starting today (Thursday)  in a new political bid to deliver jubilee goodies.

During his tour, the President will meet leaders in the area and evaluate and support the North Eastern development agenda. A region that has lagged behind in every facet of development for so long and that reels under the weight of a protracted marginalization.

uhuruThe President begins his tour of the region in Mandera County where he will launch, inspect and commission roads, an airport, as well as address public gatherings.

On Friday, President Kenyatta will tour Wajir County where he will launch several development projects. He will also commission a medical training college as well as a hospital.

He will review the programme of the roll out of the Digital Literacy Programme popularly known as the laptop project.

President Kenyatta will end his North Eastern tour in Garissa County on Saturday where he will launch and commission projects.

He will also review the progress of key water projects in the area as well as visit Garissa University College.

The presidential tour is the first since Uhuru Kenyatta was elected president of Kenya in March 2013.

Local opinion leaders and analysts connect this visit to Kenyan brand politics of wooing voters ahead of next year’s election where Mr. Kenyatta is seeking a second term.
