Morocco’s Earthquake: Death Toll Rises to 820

Rabat – Morocco was struck by a powerful earthquake on Friday night, leaving a trail of destruction and sorrow in its wake. The Ministry of the Interior has reported that 394 individuals tragically lost their lives in Al Haouz, followed by 271 in Taroudant, 91 in Chichaoua, 31 in Ouarzazate, 13 in Marrakech, 11 in Azilal, 5 in Agadir Ida Outanane, 3 in Greater Casablanca, and 1 death in the province of Youssoufia. These numbers are a grim testament to the extent of the devastation wrought by the earthquake.

During a press briefing, the Secretary-General at the Directorate General of Internal Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior expressed deep condolences to the families affected by this tragedy and provided an overview of the grim statistics. The secretary also noted the extensive efforts being undertaken by various agencies to manage the crisis and mitigate further damage.
