Allah (The Most High) rewards those who put up with sufferings and trials with tolerance while they expect boundless blessings and mercy from their creator.  Even though Sickness is a thorny bridge to cross, it is considered a means to seek closer association with our creator.

It’s not easy to overcome the trauma and endless frustrations that comes with aliments with just a physical or medical intervention. Spiritual and psychological involvement to sickens play a key role in the process of healing.

It needs a wholesome courage to deal with emotional distress. It requires a strong heart and mind, positive attitude and above all an unceasing connection to Alllah.  Building a strong relationship with your creator emboldens your spirit and enlivens your insatiable appetite for healing.

Honorable believers are guided to seek Allah’s help with endurance and prayer, increase the remembrance of Allah to acquire peace, pray for forgiveness, provide more charity to the needy, and either read or listen to more verses of the Qur’an as one patiently and obediently waits for the mercy of Allah to descend.

“Do not do not despair of the mercy of Allāh” Quran 39:53

At the end of the day what we need is the mercy of Allah for when one achieves the mercy of Allah , no doubt that happiness, healing and success will come in abundant  measures. When you put your case in front of Allah in total submission and in complete attestation to his powers, destiny and mercy, healing is  just a sincere dua away from you.

Here is a bundle of joy from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to take you through the process of healing, giving you an immeasurable amount of emotional strength just as you wade through a difficult period of sickness.

I call these five great duas a bundle of joy because they encompass a powerful composition of great words that touches the chakra of our heart and reach the back of our mind in the most powerful way that a true believer can only expect a timely respond from Allah.

Perfect your wudhuu ,  establish your prayer and if you can, offer a hidden charity. No one is between you and Allah. Raise your hands up and repeat as often as you can, as often as every sujood, as often as after every  Sadaqah , as often as often. Seek solace with these authentic, prophetic supplications:

Dua for illness #1

Many people can get stuck in the “woe is me” mentality and drift into self-pity, don’t let that happen to you. Turn to Allah (swt) and ask for his mercy and his aid.  Remember the supplication of Prophet Ayub (A.S.) when he was afflicted for many years. He said this dua and Allah SWT cured him of his terrible disease – so imagine how powerful it will be for minor illness!

Annee massaniyad durru wa Anta arhamur raahimeen “Verily, distress has seized me, and You are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy.”

Dua for illness #2

It is recommended to repeat the following dua seven times:

أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ

‎”As’alu Allah al ‘azim rabbil ‘arshil azim an yashifika” “I ask Allah, the Mighty, the Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure you.”

You will say this  dua over yourself or the one who is ill and change the “you” to “me” or “me” to “us,” depending on who is ill.

Dua For Illness #3

This is one of the most authentic prophet dua for healing.

«اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، مُذْهِبَ البَأسِ، اشْفِ أنْتَ الشَّافِي، لاَ شَافِيَ إِلاَّ أنْتَ، شِفَاءً لاَ يُغَادِرُ سَقماً

“Allahumma Rabban-nasi, adhhibil-ba’sa, washfi, Antash-Shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka, shifaan la yughadiru saqaman

“Oh Allah! The Sustainer of Mankind! Remove the illness, cure the disease. You are the One Who cures. There is no cure except Your cure. Grant me a cure that leaves no illness.”

Dua For Illness #4

It is recommended to recite this dua while the ill person places their right hand on the area of pain. Recite “bismillah” three times, and then the entire supplication is recited seven times.

A’udhu bi’izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa ‘uhadhiru

“I seek protection in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what I am experiencing and of what I fear.”

Dua For Illness #5

The  Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said if any of you is suffering from anything or his brother is suffering, he should say:

“Our Lord is Allah Who is in the Heaven, holy is Your name, Your command reigns supreme in the heaven and the earth, as Your mercy in the heaven, make Your mercy in the earth; forgive us our sins and our errors; You are the Lord of good men; send down mercy from Your mercy, and remedy from Your remedy on this pain so that it is healed up.”
