Wajir East Mp, Aden Daud launching health insurance scheme for Imams in Wajir.

Wajir East MP Adan Daud MP has launched a health insurance cover for Imams and other religions leaders in the constituency. In a ceremony attended by community members and dignitaries, Daud unveiled a pioneering health insurance programme tailored specifically for 300 Imams and religious figures who serve as pillars of support and guidance in the community.

While acknowledging the invaluable role the religious leaders play in fostering unity and providing spiritual guidance, Daud emphasised the importance of ensuring their access to quality healthcare services.

He outlined his vision to alleviate the burden of healthcare expenses on the clergy to allow them to focus wholeheartedly on their spiritual duties. “It’s with great honour that I unveil an initiative very dear to me: extending health insurance coverage to our Ulamas and Imams in the constituency. They will not have to worry about expenses for health as that is now fully covered,” the MP said

“These Imams do not earn any salary and health being a crucial and essential service, I have decided to invest in their well-being,” he added

Supkem Regional Coordinator Sheikh Yunis applauded the effort by the MP, adding that the initiative said will help the religious leaders and Imams to focus more on their religious duties. During the same event, Daud also released Sh35 million bursary for Wajir East constituency.

A total of Ksh 35,000,000 was allocated to facilitate access to quality education and alleviate financial constraints hindering students’ academic pursuits. Ksh 15,000,000 was allocated to secondary schools, benefiting a total of 3,824 students across various categories.

Furthermore, Ksh 20,000,000 was allocated for tertiary institutions, aiming to support 2,676 students in their higher education pursuits. Universities received Ksh 15,000,000, directly benefiting 1,401 students, while Colleges were allocated Ksh 5,000,000 to support 1,275 students.
